Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai proudly announces that the Architecture students won The UAE National stage Multi-Comfort House Students Contest organized by Saint Gobain in collaboration with Dubai Municipality and Dubai Properties for development of transcultural vibrant community development at Cultural Village, Dubai.
The winners of the first prize were Elvis Shrestha and Radhika Mehta from Manipal Academy of Higher Education Dubai campus whose design topic was, ‘5-degree residences’ that focused on promoting art, culture, sustainable & comfortable living and energy conservation. The design was aligned with the vision of Dubai 2021 with social, economic, and environmental sustainability. The second prize was won by Aman Sasan and Zahrin Judith D’silva from Manipal Academy of Higher Education Dubai campus. A special prize was awarded to Yuan Pereira and Fenil Patel from Manipal Academy of Higher Education Dubai campus towards their contribution.
A panel of sustainability experts and design professionals served as the jury members. Mohammed Mubarak Al Mutaiwei, Assistant Director-General of Dubai Municipality for Communications and Community Affairs honored the winners with prizes.
As a roadmap to the way further, the top three designs from the national contest participated at the International stage to compete with students from more than 30 countries such as Belgium, Bulgaria, Ukraine, UK and a lot more. The stated event was also foreseen to be staged in Dubai from 12th to 14th May.
The main objective of the contest was to follow the principles of Saint-Gobain’s ground-breaking Multi-Comfort House design, with energy efficiency standards, superior indoor air quality, high levels of acoustics, visual and thermal comfort, and other key sustainability features with unique architectural ideation. Also, a fusion of traditional Arabic culture with a contemporary design was looked into.
